Brokerage Management

At Imagineer, we offer Brokerage Management services to help YOU or your loved one manage your Personal Budget or Personal Health Budget, including supporting you to employ your own Personal Assistants/Support and Care Workers if required.

What is Brokerage Management?

The role of the Support Broker does not extend beyond the agreement or the implementation of the Support Plan. Some people will need ongoing support with the implementation, management and administration of their individual Support Plan arrangements. This could include:

  • Financial administration- management of your Personal Budget/Personal Health Budget/Direct Payment
  • Recruiting Support Workers/ Personal Assistants
  • Line-managing Support Workers/ Personal Assistants
  • Staff supervisions and appraisals
  • Staff rota development & management
  • Planning, running & overseeing team meetings for Support Workers/Personal Assistants
  • Facilitating ‘Circle of Support’ meetings
  • Payroll function
  • Arranging staff training
  • Exploring & applying for funding to help cover the cost of your arrangements

These functions are collectively called ‘Brokerage Management’. The Brokerage Management role is distinctly different from that of a Support Broker and is best kept separate from the Support Broker’s input. There are a number of reasons for this:

  • Support Brokerage input is clearly defined, with a definite start and finish point. (People should, of course, be free to enter into a fresh contract with the Support Broker later on, if they wish)
  • The different areas of Brokerage are likely to require different ‘skill mixes’ (and often can’t be provided by the same person)
  • There are potential conflicts of interest if the functions of Support Brokerage and Brokerage Management are combined in one person (and possibly even in one agency)
  • If the Support Broker stays involved indefinitely, their capacity and availability will rapidly be used up, severely limiting the number of different people they can work with

At Imagineer, we are able to offer ongoing support to people after the implementation of their Support Plan. This service was developed to respond to an increasing number of requests we were receiving.

We offer a range Brokerage Management services with the hope that you may over time begin to feel confident in doing this yourself, and with the understanding that Imagineer will provide support and guidance as you need it.

We do not offer a fixed service, but we do provide an open and bespoke service to meet your individual needs and requirements. We will discuss this with you as part of your initial enquiry with us and can review our involvement in your support regularly.

Short Term Support

Imagineer can also offer unbiased support when things have gone wrong or there are issues that need to be resolved between yourself and your team or any organisations that support you.

How Much Does Brokerage Management Cost?

The cost of Brokerage Management is determined by the level of work involved. Each person’s circumstances are different. We start with a conversation to learn more about what you need help with and how we can support you. There is a charge for all Support Brokerage and Brokerage Management work carried out by Imagineer. This may sometimes be funded as part of your overall support plan costs, and sometimes it is covered through other avenues of funding or eligibility. As part of our initial chat with you, we may be able to explore if any funding options are available to cover the cost of your Support Brokerage and Brokerage Management.
